Atkinson hoping for in-state offer

Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Carolina Forest fullback Harold Atkinson is up to five scholarship offers. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder updated the latest including one school he is still hoping will extend an offer.
"Recruiting is going pretty good," he said. "I picked up two more offers from East Carolina and Kentucky to join Indiana, Minnesota and NC State."

Atkinson gave a little insight on his two newest offers.
"I got both of those this summer," he said. "Kentucky just offered and I picked up the offer when I went to East Carolina. Both of those schools are great. I haven't been to Kentucky yet, but East Carolina was great. I like the coaches."
The only other visit for Atkinson this summer was to South Carolina.
"They are one school I'm really hoping will offer," he said. "They haven't offered, but said I am one of their top guys and they plan to look at my senior year.
Atkinson explained why he has strong feelings towards the Gamecocks.
"I've always liked Carolina," he said. "A lot of family has gone there and I just love Carolina. It's the coaches and I feel like it's a good place to go play football. I'm looking forward to being part of that program if I can."
The three-star is not planning to make a decision anytime soon as he noted that he intends to take his official visits.
A versatile prospect, Atkinson is getting looks at multiple positions.
"I'm getting looked at all over, some schools want me at fullback, some running back and some have talked defense," he said. "I don't really have a preference. I'm looking at whatever gets me playing time."
Atkinson was productive last season posting 1,490 yards rushing on 180 carries and 18 touchdowns. His performance earned him all-region honors as he set a school record for rushing yards.
