Atkins is rising fast

Wide receiver Cornorris Atkins (6-3, 215, 4.5) from Reseda (Calif.) Cleveland is beginning to get noticed. There's no mystery why. He has what the D-I's are looking for. He has size, athleticism and is fast.
Atkins is affectionately nicknamed "Bubba".

"Bubba is doing a great job for us," Cleveland coach Derrick Hill said. "We need to find ways to get him the ball more."
Though Atkins has played six games Hill only had stats for five of the games.
The stats for the five games are impressive. Atkins had 12 receptions for 220 yards and four touchdowns. He leads the team in scoring besides his four receiving touchdowns, Atkins has scored on a 70-yard punt return, an interception return and he had a rushing touchdown.
Atkins has rushed for 99 yards and has 133 punt return yards.
On defense, Atkins has tallied nine tackles and two interceptions.
On the recruiting front Nebraska is recruiting him pretty hard and even came out to California to see him play.
"Coach Dan Fidler from Arizona State called today (Tuesday October 18th) expressing interest in Bubba," Hill said. "ASU wants film on him."
"Since we talked last Arizona, Oregon and Utah State have picked up their recruitment of Bubba," Hill said. "We get inquiries about him everyday."
USC, Oregon State, and Washington from the Pac 10 have shown recent attention in Atkins. LSU from SEC is taking notice. Kansas State and Nebraska represent the Big 12 also have interest.
In an earlier interview with Hill he had the following to say about his talented wide receiver prospect.
"Bubba is a natural," Hill said. "Everything he does comes easy. He has god-given size, speed and leaping ability."
"Bubba also plays basketball so he knows how to move in the air and get the ball," Hill said. "He has outstanding body control."
"Bubba runs great routes that crisp and disciplined," Hill said. "He has great hands and makes the tough catch routinely."
The scouting report on Atkins is he's the prototypical modern wide receiver. He's big, fast and physical. He's also a good downfield blocker.
Atkins could be one of those players who gets red hot quickly along the recruiting front during his senior season. He could be one of those guys where colleges make a bull run for his services from October on.
