Atkins is affectionately nicknamed "Bubba".

"Every school in the Pac 10 except Cal and Stanford has called about Bubba," Cleveland coach Derrick Hill said. "But those two schools have sent him literature about their basketball programs."
With that statement it is obvious that Atkins is a big time all-around athlete.
"Bubba has had two in-house visits from Washington and Utah State," Hill said. "Utah State has offered him a scholarship."
"Bubba will take his first official visits in January," Hill said. "Nevada will be in the house next week."
Atkins racked up 25 receptions for 320 yards and four touchdowns. He was also used running the ball accounting for 112 yards on 21 carries and one touchdown. He leads the team in scoring besides his four receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, Atkins has scored on a 70-yard punt return, and on an interception return that he brought back to the house.
On defense, Atkins has tallied 17 tackles and two interceptions.
In an earlier interview with Hill he had the following to say about his talented wide receiver prospect.
"Bubba is a natural," Hill said. "Everything he does comes easy. He has god-given size, speed and leaping ability."
"Bubba also plays basketball so he knows how to move in the air and get the ball," Hill said. "He has outstanding body control."
"Bubba runs great routes that crisp and disciplined," Hill said. "He has great hands and makes the tough catch routinely."
The scouting report on Atkins is he's the prototypical modern wide receiver. He's big, fast and physical. He's also a good downfield blocker.
