Athletic WR with size, heating up

Big, athletic and fast wide receivers have been in vogue for sometime now. Everybody wants to land one because they cause many match-up problems for a defense. There is one that fits the bill who has been flying under the recruiting radar screen but he is beginning to create a buzz.
One of the reasons that wide receiver Cornorris Atkins (6-3, 215, 4.5) from Reseda (Calif.) Cleveland is beginning to get noticed is because opposing coaches are getting the word out.

Cleveland has had a revolving door of football coaches but the job is now in the stable and capable hands of Derrick Hill who played his high school ball at Cleveland but was coaching at Crenshaw on the frosh team.
Atkins was kind of lost in the coaching shuffle but now with Hill at the helm of the program he has begun to see his recruitment take an upswing.
That Atkins is a superb talent was never in doubt, getting the word out on him was but is beginning to change.
USC, Oregon State, and Washington from the Pac 10 have shown recent attention in Atkins. LSU from SEC is taking notice. Kansas State and Nebraska represent the Big 12 also have interest.
"Nebraska has really picked it up with Cornorris," Hill said. "The Cornhuskers were at our game last Friday.
"Cornorris is a natural," Hill said. "Everything he does comes easy. He has god-given size, speed and leaping ability."
"Cornorris also plays basketball so he knows how to move in the air and get the ball," Hill said. "He has outstanding body control."
"Cornorris runs great routes that crisp and disciplined," Hill said. "He has great hands and makes the tough catch routinely."
The scouting report on Atkins is he's the prototypical modern wide receiver. He's big, fast and physical. He's also a good downfield blocker.
One to keep an eye on as the recruiting season really heats up.
