Athletic QB to take Iowa State official

A name that has been a late arrival to the recruiting scene has been Round Rock (Texas) Vista Ridge quarterback Taylor McHargue. After spending his junior season in a run-oriented offense, McHargue has had a chance to show off his arm as a senior and now colleges are responding. Recently McHargue picked up his first offer from Stephen F. Austin but the Big 12 programs are not far behind, showing some serious interest.
Recently, a new name has emerged with interest for McHargue and already the 6-foot-1, 193-pounder has reciprocated, setting up an official visit.

"I'm taking an official visit to Iowa State this weekend," McHargue said Tuesday night. "Yesterday they called me and wanted to get me up for this week's game. They were excited about it and I'm excited to get up there because I've never been there before. I got the itinerary for the weekend and it's jam-packed."
The interest from the Cyclones came from out of the blue for McHargue who has some limited familiarity with the program.
"I hear a lot of great things about them," he said. "I know Seneca Wallace played there but other than that I don't' get to see them on TV that much. It's a program that I've kept up with a little."
Though McHargue would love to get an offer out of the weekend, he is hesitant to get his hopes up too much.
"I'm just trying to take it in stride because there's been many times I've been built up to get an offer and then it doesn't happen. I'm just taking it in stride because I don't want to set myself up for disappointment."
Along with Iowa State, McHargue has been getting increased interest from some other Big 12 programs such as Baylor, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
