Junior to Watch: Rashaad Richards
School: North Hills (Calif.) Monroe.

Position: Quarterback/Athlete
Size and Speed: Richards stands 6-foot-1, weighs 185 pounds and runs the 40 in 4.6. He runs the shuttle in 4.0 and has recorded a 30-inch vertical.
Honors: Selected all-league quarterback as a junior.
Statistics: Richards passed for 645 yards and five touchdowns as a quarterback as a junior. As wide receiver he racked up 892 receiving yards and scored six touchdowns. He also handled his team’s punting chores and averaged a 37 yards per punt.
Favorite Colleges: Richards is getting recruiting looks from USC, UCLA, Washington, ASU, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State and Michigan.
Skinny: Richards is a coach’s son and has been around the game of football all his life. Because of his exposure to the game he has an advanced knowledge of the game. Richards is a versatile performer who is getting recruited as an “athlete.”
“Rashaad is a dangerous football player because he can beat you with intelligence as well as his physical skills,” Monroe head coach Chris Richards said. “I’m not saying that because he’s my kid, I’m saying it because it’s true.”
Richards is a team-first guy who is not into stats but is into W’s. He has played out of position as a quarterback because he’s the team’s most effective signal-caller and probably most importantly he’s very coachable. Richards will do whatever is asked of him help out his team.
What is Richards looking in a college?
“Location and the school’s academics will be important,” Richards said. “Another thing that I will look into is what position the school is recruiting me for.”
Though Richards plays quarterback for Monroe, he projects as a defensive back or wide receiver on the next level.
