ATH Young impressed with Gamecocks

Tucker, Ga. athlete Brandyn Young took his first official visit this past weekend -- to South Carolina -- and came away very impressed. Did he commit?
"No sir, I didn't commit, I wanted to make sure I took my other two visits to compare," said the 6-foot-0, 190-pounder. "But South Carolina was great and they're my top school right now. I was hosted by Tremaine Tyler, he's nicknamed "Too Tough" and he was really cool. I got to learn more about the school, meet the coaches and hang with the players."

Young had been a Maryland commitment back during the early part of the football season. Why did he change his mind?
"I just started to see there might be better opportunities out there for me," he said. "I still like Maryland, I'm visiting there next weekend (Jan. 14) and then I'm visiting Vanderbilt (Jan. 21), but I started to think I wanted to stay closer to home as well. Right now South Carolina is the team to beat for me."
Young is being recruited as a running back primarily by all three schools.
"That's what I prefer to play," he said. "But I just want to get on the field."
