ATH Wine is a major 2007 sleeper

Although he is an unknown prospect on most recruiting fronts at the moment, Fredricksburg (Va.) Massaponax head coach Eric Ludden feels his athlete Josh Wine could see interest pick up down the line. What makes the 6-foot-0, 245-pounder stand out?
"He is a phenomenal athlete that is super strong, aggressive, quick and a vicious hitter," he said. "He is very tough on the inside and fills in very well against the run. I don't have the statistics for him, but he was our leading tackler on the team. He was also a solid fullback that was used in short yardage situations extremely well and was very good at opening holes.

"Josh is a very versatile prospect that a lot of coaches aren't sure exactly where he fits in at this time. They mostly see him as a fine athlete, but it's hard to say if he's a fullback, linebacker of defensive end."
Wine isn't just a good football player, but dominates on the wrestling mat too.
"He finished as a heavyweight second in the state in wrestling and lost in double overtime in the championship," Ludden said. "He is getting a lot of interest for wrestling, but I know his number one love is football. He'll go wherever the education is free though."
At the moment schools showing an interest in Wine include Division I-AA programs as well as the academy schools like Army, Navy and the Air Force.
Wine earned all-region and district player of the year honors as a junior last season.
