ATH Sturdivant visits UNC

Over the weekend, Oakboro (N.C.) West Stanly athlete Quantavius Sturdivant made a trip to Chapel Hill. The 6-foot-2, 224-pounder has long been suspected of favoring the Tar Heels. Is he any closer to a decision?
"I just went up there on Saturday to watch the team scrimmage," he said. "It was pretty good. The defense there is pretty good, but the offense started to come around a bit towards the end of the game. Overall I enjoyed my time there. I also got to spend some time with coach Brock and Thigpen. They just talked to me about the program, school and more."

Did the visit make him want to commit?
"I think I'm pretty far off from committing anywhere," he stated. "I still want to go down to Florida in September for a visit. I haven't scheduled it yet, but I'm working on that.
"I really want to go there to see what it's like during the year. I want to check out the campus, school and get to know the coaches. I want to spend time with them."
Sturdivant went on to say that he is still down to North Carolina and Florida.
"I really like North Carolina because they are a program on the rise and they have good coaches. They are also a great place to play," he stated. "Florida on the other hand speaks for itself. The coaches there are very supportive and I like them a lot."
The three-star prospect is very busy getting ready for the season. West Stanly kicks off the year against Central Cabarrus at home on Friday.
"Our team is pretty good," he said. "I'm seeing an improvement in us and myself. Personally I am a lot stronger and more powerful than last year. I still want to work on my speed and get my footwork better during the season."
