The Arizona State Sun Devils have picked up a commitment from one of the best defensive tackle prospects on the JUCO level. The Sun Devils were able to out-duel their in-state rivals the Arizona Wildcats who also offered.
The player that the Sun Devils landed is defensive tackle Shannon Jones (6-4, 295) from Rocklin (Calif.) Sierra College.
“Yes Shannon committed to ASU,” Jones’ father said. “He will be joining his brother Shane Jones at Arizona State.”
Shane Jones just completed his football eligibility and is currently working on his masters at ASU. He has received some nibbles from the NFL but nothing concrete.
Shannon Jones played his high school ball Antelope (Calif.) Center and finished his career at Sacramento (Calif.) Foothill.
The Sun Devils land a player who is big, strong and quick. He is a force inside. Jones does a nice job putting heat on the passer from the inside and he’s hard to handle.
Besides his offers from ASU and Arizona, Jones was getting a lot of recruiting attention from Cal, Oregon and Nebraska.
