ASU lands commitment No. 1

Barstow (Calif.) defensive lineman Zach Niusulu ended the recruiting process early by committing to Arizona State late last week.
"I committed last Friday," Niusulu said. "My dad and I went down there for Junior Day the a couple of weeks back and we both felt it was a perfect fit for me. I really bonded with all the coaches and they stressed more than just football which I liked.

"The coaches talked to me more about academics than anything else. I know how important that is, if something happens to you and you can't play football any more, you need something to fall back on and I liked how the coaches their kept saying they would stay on me and watch over me."
Niusulu , 6-4, 285 pounds is the younger brother of UCLA defensive lineman C.J Niusulu but said that was never an option for him.
"They didn't recruit me and I wanted to go somewhere and make a name for myself anyway," Niusulu said. "That was his thing but I liked ASU from the beginning and that's why I committed there so early. I really don't see anything coming along that will be a better option for me than ASU so I jumped on it when they offered."
As for his playing style, Niusulu said he and C.J do have a lot in common.
"We're both very intense out there," Niusulu said. "C.J played with passion and that's how I am too. We both just go out there and try and get the job done. He might have been a little better than me but I'm catching up and I think I have the same potential as he did coming out of high school."
