Askew high on Mountaineers

Fresh off an official visit to West Virginia, Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star linebacker Jerod Askew is excited about what the Mountaineers have to offer.
The 6-foot-1, 230-pound prospect is rated the No. 77 prospect on the Rivals100 and he enjoyed his time in Morgantown. He was with plenty of other top recruits from Virginia and it sounds like the Mountaineers helped their cause.

"Yes, it was an official visit," Askew confirmed. "I loved it down there. They have great fans. I mean, the fans were so crazy. They really make you want to go there.
"I chilled with the players and took a little trip around the campus to see what it was like. I watched film with the linebackers for a little while then we went to an individual session with them. They were talking about the game and how they thought they did. We ended up leaving Monday morning."
While Askew has no favorites he has basically narrowed his focus to West Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson and Maryland.
"Basically, I'd say West Virginia is one of the top schools. I've been there twice now but the other time I didn't get to see all that I saw this time.
"This coming weekend I'm going on an official visit to Tennessee and on (October) 18, I'm going to Maryland. Before this I had just been to Maryland's junior day.
"I'm trying to make my decision as soon as I can once I see all the colleges I've wanted to see. At the end of all that I'll be ready to make a decision.
"I believe I'll end up taking all five officials but I haven't picked dates for the trips to Alabama and Clemson yet. I'd like to get to both of those before I make an announcement."
Askew carries a 4.7 grade point average and is also rated the No. 7 overall prospect in Virginia.
