ASK FARRELL: Who has surprised so far during the 2020 recruiting cycle?

DraftKings has posted win totals for next college football season and the oddsmakers like Alabama and Clemson a whole lot. Shocking, right?

The Crimson Tide and the Tigers have been sent out with an over/under of 11 wins not counting conference title games or the College Football Playoff, so that means if a bettor takes the over in that bet, Clemson or Alabama would have to go undefeated in the regular season to cash the ticket.

There are seven other programs with double-digit win totals, some the regular national title contenders and others that could come as a complete surprise.

According to DraftKings, Georgia is the next team in line at 10.5 wins and then Oklahoma, Ohio State, Boise State, UCF, Washington and Washington State are all slotted at over/under 10 victories.

Both Clemson and Alabama look to be back on the path to the playoff - and a possible meeting again for the national title - but there could be some roadblocks.

Clemson hosts Texas A&M in Week 2 and the Aggies in their second-year under coach Jimbo Fisher could be interesting. Florida State comes to Clemson and then road games at NC State and South Carolina might be interesting.

For Alabama, the Crimson Tide go to South Carolina, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn this season. Maybe there’s a risky upset pick in there but Alabama hosts LSU and that’s always an important match-up.

We ask Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell whether he sees both Alabama and Clemson going 12-0 in the regular season or if he’s daring enough to pick an upset - and which projected over/under 10-game winner is he most surprised by?

FARRELL'S TAKE

“Let’s start with the over/under 10-game winners. I’m shocked that Washington State is in there. I know the Cougars had a good year last year, but losing Gardner Minshew will hurt and I don’t think they have the depth of talent to win 11 games.

"As for Clemson and Alabama, I think both teams lose one game somewhere along the line but they still meet in the playoffs in the end. Who will beat Clemson? A&M will be a tough game and NC State and Boston College will be tough outs while Alabama could struggle with A&M or LSU. I’d bet the under on Clemson and Alabama and especially Washington State.”
