There were three new five-stars named in the latest rankings release for the 2021 class --- Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga quarterback Caleb Williams, Houma (La.) Terrebonne defensive tackle Maason Smith and Steilacoom, Wash., wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
But even with the addition of those three prospects, there are still just 14 five-stars in the class, which means probably half of the five-stars are still left out there in the four-star or below status heading into the all-star events.
The Under Armour Future 50 will be important for evaluation purposes. So will the National Combine that corresponds with the All-American Bowl in San Antonio. A busy spring with the Rivals Camp Series and numerous events will help form the list as well.

CLASS OF 2020 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Position | Team | State
As it stands in the 2021 rankings, the top five players just outside five-star status are Ohio State quarterback commit Kyle McCord, Miami Northwestern linebacker Terrence Lewis, Washington quarterback pledge Sam Huard, Notre Dame offensive line pledge Blake Fisher and Miami Booker T. Washington receiver Jacorey Brooks.
With every recruiting cycle, there will be significant movement up and down and numerous players far outside the Rivals100 will be making big moves in the rankings by this time next year.
There are a tremendous amount of intriguing prospects in the 2021 class with quarterback, wide receiver and the offensive and defensive lines being particularly loaded early on in the cycle.
FARRELL'S TAKE
We ask Rivals National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell which prospects outside of five-star status does he have his eye on heading into the offseason as potential candidates for that highest of high ranking?
“I’m pretty confident that Lewis will be a five-star as he puts on weight and mass and I have few doubts about Fisher as well. I know he needs to work on his footwork and be more physical, but that should happen.
"The quarterbacks are very interesting because none of them are locks even though they are very close to five-stars now, and Brooks is very good but the wide receiver rankings will look a lot different at the end of this cycle. Lewis and Fisher are the two I feel confident about.”
