Five-star receiver Jadon Haselwood committed to Georgia in March 2017 but throughout his recruitment, the Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove made it no secret he was going to take visits and he did just that - Haselwood saw a lot of schools and did his research.

On Tuesday night, the No. 2 receiver in the class decommitted from the Bulldogs days before he’s going to take his official visit to Miami. Auburn has also become a serious player in his recruitment along with Oklahoma and possibly others.

The top two prospects in the 2019 class - cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and wide receiver Theo Wease - are now the only two committed out of the top nine. Wease is of particular interest because he had committed to Oklahoma early in his recruitment, backed off that pledge and then re-committed to the Sooners in recent months.

Haselwood is going to visit Miami and the Hurricanes have intrigued him for a long time. Auburn has made the five-star receiver a priority in this class. He’s called Oklahoma a “dream school” and the Sooners are still in the mix. Georgia is certainly not out of it but it’s difficult oftentimes to have a top prospect re-commit even though Wease has already done it in this class.

Following Haselwood’s decommitment from the Bulldogs, Georgia’s class dropped from No. 1 to sixth in the team recruiting rankings. Defensive end Nolan Smith is the lone five-star left in the class. Georgia has 15 four-star recruits also committed.

We ask Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell to weigh in on whether he’s surprised Haselwood backed off his pledge and which program has the best shot to land him now.

FARRELL'S TAKE

“I’m not surprised because there had been rumors about this happening for quite some time and the only people who felt it wouldn’t happen were Georgia backers. Miami is supposed to be the team to beat right now followed by Auburn and then Georgia and Oklahoma, but I have a feeling he could end up back at Georgia.

"Miami is a good option for sure and he likes the staff there and pairing him with George Pickens at Auburn would be impressive for sure. Oklahoma is a longshot to me with two five-star receivers already and a high four star in Arjei Henderson, but something tells me Georgia isn’t out of this at all.”
