TAKE TWO: Why isn't Clemson bringing in top-five recruiting classes?

Kyler Murray announced recently on social media that he is fully committing himself to football instead of baseball. Now things get interesting with the NFL Combine coming up for the former Oklahoma quarterback.

There is so much to like about Murray’s game. The Heisman winner led Oklahoma back to the College Football Playoff after throwing for 4,361 yards with 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions, and also rushing for 1,001 yards and 12 touchdowns.

In a nearly impossible situation following Baker Mayfield, the No. 1 overall pick by the Cleveland Browns, Murray exceeded all expectations as the Sooners’ offense did not miss a beat.

But there are also some concerns when it comes to Murray, since he was listed at only 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds. Height seems less important to many general managers and decision-makers these days, but Murray will still get the once-over since he is definitely undersized. On NFL.com, analyst Lance Zierlein called Murray “severely undersized” before going on to compliment his game and his abilities for the pro game.

Murray was also just a one-year starter. After transferring from Texas A&M, Murray had to sit out a year and then sat behind Mayfield last season before taking over. That could be an issue for some franchises.

There is no doubt Murray has otherworldly ability and he could be a high draft pick because quarterbacks like him don’t come around very often. But there are some issues that will need to be addressed during the pre-draft process as well.

We ask Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell if the Arizona Cardinals should consider trading Josh Rosen to free up space to take Murray with the first overall pick to follow in Mayfield’s footsteps and if not, where should Murray go in the draft considering it’s a weaker QB class.

FARRELL'S TAKE:

“I wouldn’t trade away Rosen after one year if I were the Cardinals because he has a ton of upside and talent, and there are many risks with Murray and his lack of size. Rosen will progress as more talent surrounds him and they get their offensive line issues under control. So where does that leave Murray? I think he goes in the top 10 overall as some team with quarterback needs will take a shot on him.

"I doubted him out of high school because of his lack of size and so far he’s proven me wrong so I’m not going to doubt him again. But for a team like Arizona, which just took a quarterback in round one, it’s time to pass and develop Rosen instead of taking a risk on Murray.”
