Ashley excited about new offers

Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier all-purpose running back Darius Ashley is one of the top players in Ohio after rushing for more than 1,600 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2006. It's no surprise that he's already been busy on the phone talking to quite a few college coaches.
"Well yesterday was the first day I got a call, and Tennessee and Northwestern both called me," Ashley, who is 5-foot-8 and 185 pounds, said.

"Each of them have already offered, but they both just wanted me to come visit the school. Tennessee wanted me to come up with my mom and check it out. I've already been to Tennessee's junior day, so that's something that was nice.
"I went to Louisville this past weekend. It was really nice, too. They both were great."
Ashley knew about four of his offers – Cincinnati, Indiana, Virginia, West Virginia and Northwestern – already, but the offer from Tennessee was something he just found out about just last week.
"Actually I just found out about my offer from Tennessee this past week, but they sent it in the middle of September," Ashley said.
"It was just lost in the mail, or I overlooked it or something. All this time I just thought Tennessee hadn't offered yet. It wasn't until coach Phillip Fulmer read an article on Rivals that he found out, so he texted me and told me they sent it in September."
Ashley said he's also getting pretty serious attention from Michigan.
"I hear a lot from Michigan," he said. "They told me whenever I could make it up for a visit then they would probably offer. They just wanted to make sure that I'm around Michael Hart's height. They want to make sure I'm a legitimate 5-foot-9."
