Linebacker Vin Ascolese out of North Bergen, N.J. holds five offers. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder has set up his first official visit for next month.
"I'm going to Illinois on December 16th," he said. "I just want to check out the campus life and see how things work there."
What made Ascolese decide on heading there for a trip?

"It's a great school," he stated. "They play tough football and they send kids to the NFL every year."
The Jersey prospect is in the process of working on a second trip too.
"I'm taking one to Cincinnati, I don't know when I'm going to take the visit there."
Ascolese confirms he has not cut his list though.
"No, I'm going to take it all the way."
On the season, Ascolese has helped North Bergen to a second round playoff matchup against Union City this weekend.
"We've got a real big game this week and we're preparing," he said. "I'm doing well this year. I'm straight killing people."
Ascolese has posted 118 tackles, 42 for loss, eight sacks, seven forced fumble, two interceptions and 47 carries for 500-yards on the ground this season.
