Asante ready for Nebraska visit

Earlier today, it was discovered that Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College four-star linebacker Larry Asante would be on an official visit to Nebraska this weekend.
Will it be his first of many or first and only one?

Make no mistake, he's definitely looking forward to his time in Lincoln, Neb.
"I'm planning on going up to Nebraska this weekend," Asante, ranked as the nation's No. 10 junior college player, said. "I want to check out the facilities, what kind of defense they run, how I fit in there, the campus, the school, and get to know the coaches. I basically want to see everything.
"If everything goes well and after talking to my folks if everything goes well with them then I might just commit there. But I really would like to take my time and check out a few other schools and take some more visits."
Asante said he's also lined up another visit and is working on dates for a few others.
"Kansas State just offered me," Asante said. "I'm going to visit Kansas State on Dec. 16th. Nebraska, Kansas State, Michigan, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Virginia Tech have been calling me."
K-State's offer his is first, but more are expected to come as he's quickly blowing as one of the Jayhawk Conference's top defenders. Nebraska told the Coffeyville coaches this week that an offer is expected.
Asante helped Coffeyville out to a 4-1 start and he's averaging 10 tackles a game. He would also like to hear more from Clemson and lists the Tigers, Hokies and Huskers as his top teams.
"If I had to pick today, I probably have to say Nebraska or Virginia Tech," Asante said.
Asante is originally from Alexandria, Va., so he would love to get back closer to home – back to ACC Country.
"Location could be a factor a little bit," he said. "I would like to stay somewhat close to home so my parents can check out all my games, but besides that I don't really have a problem with location."
"I also would like to get some early playing time. From all the schools I've talked to so far, as long as I learn the system fine, it's my spot."
Coffeyville assistant coach Rico Cherico calls Asante one of the best linebackers he's ever been around.
"To me, there isn't a better linebacker in the conference and maybe the nation," Cherico said. "He's one of the most impressive linebacker prospects we've ever had here, and Coffeyville has a great tradition for linebackers. Shoot, this kid is the real deal."
