Offensive lineman Landon DickersonClick Kelvin HarmonHere to view this Link. came into the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour event in Charlotte with just a three-star rating. After putting on the best performance by an offensive lineman at any Rivals Camp Series event so far this year, it is safe to say his ranking will go up.
There is so much to like about the way he plays. The Hudson (N.C.) South Caldwell standout plays with a nasty streak but maintains excellent technique from snap to whistle. The way Dickerson is able to stay low, use his leverage and mirror the defensive lineman's movement while staying engaged was extremely impressive.
To those that have seen Kelvin HarmonClick Virginia Tech and Tennessee look to be in very good shape for Dickerson right now but offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and others have caught his eye. Look for Dickerson's offer sheet to really expand during the spring evaluation period. Here to view this Link. play, it was not a huge surprise to find out he won the wide receiver MVP award at the Rivals Camp Series: New Jersey. The Palmyra, N.J., star has a great frame, is very fast and is a natural receiver. Harmon's route running has improved and he isn't as stiff as he used to be. His recruitment has yet to really get in gear but there are plenty more offers in his future.
Three other receivers have impressed this camp season. Clemson commit Cornell Powell is already a four-star but he has really stepped up his game. Divine Deablo grew a few inches, improved his athleticism and is more quick-twitch than ever. Chesapeake (Va.) Grassfield receiver Grant Holloway could end up in the Olympics for track, but he will be difference-maker on the football field in college.
Bear Market
On film, quarterback Brandon McIlwainClick Brandon McIlwainHere to view this Link. looks as if he can do it all. The Newtown (Pa.) Council Rock North signal-caller is running all over the field and can seemingly throw it anywhere. His performance during in-person evaluations and against players that are similarly or more talented, however, doesn't match up to what is on film.
There is a ton to like about Julian OkwaraClick McIlwain impressed earlier in the offseason at a camp that really tested his mechanics and that led to a small bump in the rankings, which pushed him up to a four-star. His performance at RCS: New Jersey confirmed that his arm strength isn't quite there yet and it affected his passes. Here to view this Link.. Earlier in the process, it was thought that the Charlotte (N.C.) Ardrey Kell standout was going to play linebacker at the next level and, based on his film from his junior season, Okwara was rated in the Rivals250. Okwara is on the smaller side for a defensive end (6-4, 220) and, while he is very athletic and a great pass rusher, he will need to add a lot of strength and mass before he could even see time as a situational pass-rusher in South Bend.
Youth Of The Nation
In about a week's time, 2017 defensive tackle Dayln Wade-PerryClick Here to view this Link. has picked up his first five offers and more are on the way. RutgersClick Here to view this Link. and Boston CollegeClick Here to view this Link. were the first two to pull the trigger and since then Penn StateClick Here to view this Link., North CarolinaClick Here to view this Link. and MiamiClick Here to view this Link. have all said they want Wade-Perry. He is very athletic for his size and when he loses more bad weight, Wade-Perry will be a game-plan destroyer. At this pace, Wade-Perry's offer sheet will reach double digits in no time.
Draft Flashback
Former Florida StateClick Eddie GoldmanHere to view this Link. star defensive tackle Eddie GoldmanClick Eddie GoldmanHere to view this Link. is projected to go anywhere from the middle to late first round of the upcoming NFL Draft. As a recruit coming out of Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate Academy, Goldman could have continued his playing career at any school in the country. He took official visits to Florida State, Alabama, Auburn and Miami, but the Seminoles seemed to be his leader for months before National Signing Day. Goldman finished as the second-ranked defensive tackle in country, behind future teammate Mario EdwardsClick Eddie GoldmanHere to view this Link., and seventh in the Rivals100. Goldman's unique ability to be a run-stopper in the heart of a 4-3 scheme but also play sideline to sideline from the middle of the defense made him one of the best defensive tackles in a class where five of them were ranked in the top 30.
