U.S. Army All-American Bowl Announcements
WR Tyler Boyd, Clairton (Pa.)
Overall Rank: No. 60
Schools: Pitt, West Virginia, Michigan State
Farrell Analysis: Boyd has always had interest in schools such as West Virginia and Michigan State, but since his official visit to Pitt the Panthers have held the strong edge and that hasn't changed. Look for Pitt to make up for the loss of Robert Foster with a big win here.
Prediction: Pitt
Pick: Pitt
DE Joe Mathis, Upland (Calif.) Upland
Overall Rank: No. 167
Schools: Alabama, USC, UCLA, Washington
Farrell Analysis: Mathis is listing a couple of schools, USC and Alabama, that don't have room for him, so this is a Washington and UCLA battle by all accounts. With Tosh Lupoi working his magic for the Huskies, they have to be the pick here.
Prediction: Washington
Pick: Washington
LB Mike Mitchell, Plano (Texas) Prestonwood
Overall Rank: No. 30
Schools: Texas A&M, Oregon, Ohio State
Farrell Analysis: Mitchell has been a strong Ohio State lean for the longest time and was close to committing to the Buckeyes back in the summer. Oregon is out because he hasn't visited, and Texas A&M is a hot team; but it's not enough to overcome Urban Meyer and company here.
Prediction: Ohio State
Pick: Ohio State
DE Al-Quadin Muhammad, Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep
Overall Rank: No. 97
Schools: Alabama, Notre Dame, Miami
Farrell Analysis: Muhammad was once considered a silent commitment to Notre Dame, but there have been some questions about whether the Irish could take him or not. After an official visit to Miami that went very well, you have to go with the Hurricanes here unless Notre Dame says they'll take him and hope his academics come through.
Prediction: Miami
Pick: Miami
WR James Quick, Louisville (Ky.) Trinity
Overall Rank: No. 114
Schools: Louisville, Ohio State, Oregon
Farrell Analysis: Quick is one of the hardest to predict. Many felt Louisville was the team to beat for a long time, but confidence at Ohio State has been high recently. He arrived in San Antonio and declared the Buckeyes his leader, but is he just playing? The hunch here is Charlie Strong wins out and gets another U.S. Army All American after landing two in last year's game.
Prediction: Louisville
Pick: Louisville
WR Tony Stevens, Orlando (Fla.) Evans
Overall Rank: No. 164
Schools: Texas A&M, Florida State, Ohio State
Farrell Analysis: Stevens was committed to Florida State at least once (and possibly more times depending on whom you ask), but now it appears Texas A&M and Johnny Football will get another weapon. All signs point to an Aggies win here.
Prediction: Texas A&M
Pick: Texas A&M
