Seffner (Fla.) Armwood three-star running back Demetrius McCray has done what it takes to make sure that his team will play again for the Florida Class 4A state championship. This past week in the semifinals, McCray rushed for 123 yards and four scores.
Those totals give him around 1,500 yards this year, bettering his 1,394 mark as a junior.
“We have Lake Gibson, the same team we played in the championship game last year again,” McCray, who is 6-foot and 180 pounds, said. “It’s going to be a real battle on Thursday.”
Just like it’s a real battle to land his commitment.
McCray, because of the playoff run, has yet to take any official visits. He hopes to either visit Iowa or Akron next weekend after his Thursday night game. In January, he’s lined up visits to New Mexico on January 7, USF on January 14 and he’s also talking to Indiana and Rutgers about visits, too.
“I’ve not thought a ton about favorites,” McCray said. “I’m going to sit down with my coach on Friday after the game and talk things out. But those are the main schools that I’m thinking about now.”
McCray is ranked as the nation's No. 35 running back by Rivals.com
