Matt
Reibe.
A 6-foot-3, 252-pound prospect with 4.8 speed, Reibe is
coming off a strong junior season which saw him catch 16 passes for 195 yards
and three touchdowns. His real calling card, however, is run blocking in El
Dorado's ground-oriented attack.
"We run the ball about 70 percent of the time or more,"
said El Dorado coach Ellis 'Scooter' Register, "and Matt is a big part of our
success there. He is a truly great blocker and could get even better on the next
level when he's totally dedicated to football."
Reibe has been a three-sport star for El Dorado, but
recently gave up baseball to concentrate on weight training for the 2002 season.
That decision has paid early dividends as he's increased his bench press to 265
pounds and has posted an impressive squat max of 575.
"If he gets stronger and keeps busting his butt like he
has been this summer, he's going to make somebody a good one," Register said.
"He's got the other tools already -- nice, soft hands and real good feet. He
runs really well."
Reibe's skills have drawn attention from a number of
programs, but Register says he's most interested in Arkansas and Texas A&M.
"I think it would be one of those two if the offer
comes," Register said.
