One of the South’s top tight end prospects is Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview standout Marc Winston.

“I’ve had calls from Arkansas, Arkansas State, Stanford, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi State, Memphis and Rice,” he said. “They were mostly just trying to figure out if I was interested in them. They all said they were going to be recruiting me hard if I was still interested. I told them I was. I’m open to anyone right now.”
Winston (6-7, 235, 4.7) claims offers from Arkansas, Alabama, Iowa, Nebraska, Virginia Tech and Arkansas State. He’s also receiving steady interest from Tennessee, UCLA, Stanford and Colorado.
Arkansas is thought to be the odds-on favorite for Winston. His father, Billy, and two uncles played for the Razorbacks.
“I don’t have a favorite right now,” he said. “I’m not leaning to any school or any conference or any certain area of the country. The only thing I’m looking at right now is good academics, a chance to play early and an offense that will put the ball in the tight end’s hands.”
He hopes to make unofficial visits to Arkansas, Alabama, Memphis and Mississippi State this season.
As a junior, Winston caught 30 passes for 760 yards and four touchdowns. He also had 61 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 10 forced fumbles and four sacks as a defensive end.
He opened his senior season with three catches for 28 yards last week. He also had 10 tackles and two sacks on the defensive side of the ball in what Winston said his coach described as “one of my best overall games of my career.”
Academically, he maintains a 3.6 GPA and has scored a 22 on the ACT.
