Position: Cornerback
Size and Speed: Richardson is 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds. He was clocked last weekend at 4.50 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Statistics: Richardson recorded 65 tackles last season from his defensive back position. He also picked off six interceptions as a junior, giving him 14 over the past two seasons.
Honors: Richardson earned all-district honors as a cornerback in 2002. He also earned all-state honors for his skills as a return specialist.
Favorite Schools: Arkansas and Texas Christian are already on board with scholarship offers extended to Richardson. Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri and Kansas State are also beginning to step up their recruiting efforts for Richardson's talents.
Skinny: Richardson has been a two year starter for Marlin, and looks to continue that in 2003.
"He started as a sophomore for us as a cornerback," Marlin coach Jerry Malone said. "He is quick enough and fast enough to play cornerback. But, I could also see him sliding over and being a safety. He is very physical. If he bulked up some, he could be an outside linebacker type of guy too in college."
Richardson's mother moved to Dallas after his sophomore season, but Richardson decided to stay at Marlin.
"He wanted to stay here, so he has moved in with D'Nerian (Wrighter) and his family. The two of them are like brothers."
Malone said Richardson is being recruited by a lot of the same schools as his backfield mate, Wrighter.
"Arkansas and TCU have offered him scholarships already," he said. "But they won't be the last ones. Oklahoma is coming by today, Missouri is coming tomorrow. Colorado will probably be by next week. Kansas State requested film on him today."
Don't expect an early decision from Richardson.
"I would anticipate him taking all five visits before he makes any kind of a decision. He looks everything over thoroughly. So he'll take his time and make the best choice for him."
