Arkansas runs to the lead for 3-star Louisiana RB Jeremy Gibson

The Latest: The offers keep coming in for three-star Louisiana running back Jeremy GIbson with programs like Arizona State, Missouri and Marshall offering in recent weeks. And while Gibson said he plans to do his due diligence when it comes to visits this summer, he said one program in particular, Arkansas, has his attention. Rivals.com caught up with Gibson to talk about the Hawgs and his plans to visit Fayetteville in the near future.

In His Words: "Marshall and Arkansas have been showing me the most love but I'm leaning towards Arkansas right now. They're on top for me."

On Arkansas attention: "Even the fans love me down there. They were telling me on twitter how bad they want me and they’re just showing me love. I need to go on a visit there because after I go on a visit I’ll probably commit. I was supposed to go for the spring game but the bad weather kept me from going."

On the Arkansas offense/running back tradition: "They were telling me about the tradition and they want me to come over there and run the rock for them and every letter they send me they tell me that. It helps to know they have an offense where they really feature the running back. I feel I can do anything but a strong running game is what I'm going to lean towards. I come from a spread offense but I want to player in a power offense because I think it will just give me another chance to showcase my abilities."

On his relationship with Coach Mitchell: "He’s a cool guy. He texts me every week checking on me and asking how I’m doing. He’s coming down here next week to watch me practice, him and Coach Smith. The head coach has been DM’ing me too. I just feel like I have a good relationship with the staff. I was facetiming with all of them at one time before my track meet and it was just crazy to see all of them in one room talking to me. The fact that Coach Beilema is talking to me himself -- if a head coach hits me up that’s something serious."

On playing in the SEC: "It means a lot. Growing up I watched LSU and their running backs and even if that doesn't happen I just want to play in the SEC so I can be close and everyone can see me. If I feel like a school is a better fit and the SEC is a goal because that’s the hardest competition"

On other offers coming: "I know TCU and Utah are close and probably Georgia too. I was talking to Georgia’s coach and then he came by my school. He said he would come to one of my practices and see me work out and then we can go from there."

On camp/visit plans: "I'm going to go to Purdue for a visit. I’m trying to fit in Arizona State, too. My head coach was telling me about the campus and the school and how nice it is there. I'm going to go to Utah and of course to Arkansas, that visit will be sometime in June."

Rivals Reaction: Rarely does a prospect speak as glowingly about a school as Gibson does about Arkansas, especially considering the fact that he's yet to visit campus. If it weren't for the poor weather he might already be on the Razorbacks commitment list. It will be interesting to see which other programs join the mix in the coming weeks, but right now it looks as if Gibson is Arkansas' to lose.
