Honors: As a junior, Helms earned all-conference and all-state honors in helping lead Stuttgart to a 14-0 record and the Arkansas Class 4A state championship. He was also named to the All-Arkansas Team by the Democrat-Gazette.
Statistics: Helms recorded 80 tackles, six sacks and two forced fumbles on the defensive side of the ball.
Favorite Schools: The five teams showing the most early interest are LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Iowa.
Skinny: The powerful Helms will be one of the most sought-after prospects in Arkansas next season. He says he grew up watching and rooting for a pair of SEC teams who may have the early edge in his recruitment.
“I’ve always loved watching LSU and UT,” he said. “I love their tradition and the big stadiums. When I started getting letters from them, I was real excited. I’m excited to see what happens with them in the future.”
Helms said he has plans to attend camps at Arkansas and LSU this summer. He’s also considering the Ole Miss camp.
