Arkansas leads for Texas athlete

Sweeny, Texas, athlete Shedrick Johnson is one of the biggest sleepers in the state of Texas. But he was so good that he couldn’t keep the big boys from waking up to him – especially a power from the SEC.
“I have Arkansas as the favorite right now,” Johnson, who is 5-foot-11 and 178 pounds, said. “They wanted me to come in and check them out first on my official visit. So, I’m going there on December 5. I’m also going to visit Houston on January 9.”

But those are just two of the teams that have discovered Johnson.
Along with offers from the Hawgs and UofH, he has offers form Iowa, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Syracuse and Rice. But at this point it’s going to be tough for anybody to beat Arkansas.
“They’ve been recruiting me a long time,” he said. “I don’t know who else I’m even going to visit other than Arkansas and Houston.”
Johnson racked up 1,022 yards rushing on offense this season, but he projects mainly at cornerback. And to prove he can cover with the best of them, Johnson racked up five interceptions as a senior.
“There is something about covering a guy man-to-man,” he said. “I love it.”
