Arkansas is first SEC school to offer Jefferson

THE LATEST: KJ Jefferson had a monster junior season while leading Sardis (Miss.) North Panola to the semi-finals. He finished the season with 3,028 yards passing and 39 touchdowns and he added 1,395 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on the ground.

He held offers from Austin Peay, Jackson State, Memphis, South Alabama, Texas-San Antonio and Tulane until Sunday afternoon when Arkansas extended an offer.

This is a big offer for the talented junior.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "Coach [Joe] Craddock (offensive coordinator) is the coach that offered me and he was just saying that they were impressed with my film and that they wanted to get me over there so we can have some one-on-one time," said Jefferson.

ON THE OFFER: "They were showing interest in me when the old coaches were there, but it stopped when they were fired and it has picked back up. It feels so unreal because it caught me off guard and now I know that it’s going to open a lot of doors for me being my first SEC offer."

FIRST VISIT IS COMING: "I will be attending their Junior Day February 24. I want to see a lot of excitement when I am there and I just want to have fun. What I like about Arkansas right now is their offense and how they share the ball."

RIVALS REACTION: This is a big offer for Jefferson, and it is likely just the beginning for him. Coaches from Indiana, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are expected to stop in and check on Jefferson this week. It could be a big spring for him as well when numerous coaches will be watching him throw. It is very early in the recruiting process and he is still open to all schools, but this offer from Arkansas definitely got his attention.
