Arkansas in front for Miami linebacker

MIAMI - Donavan Thompson's three offers come from schools in three different conferences. Arkansas, USF and Oregon State have all made things official as things stand. And while Thompson is hoping to see his options expand in the coming months, he has one summer visit in mind already.
For now, his offseason travel itinerary is simple.

"I just want to visit Arkansas this summer," Thompson said on Friday. He then went on to name Arkansas as the leader in his recruitment.
"It's because of the SEC and it's because they show the most interest," he said. "I like everything I know about Arkansas."
Razorback linebackers coach Vernon Hargreaves is spearheading Arkansas' recruitment of the Miami Central High School linebacker with assistance from head coach Bret Bielema. Their pitch, it seems, is simple. It's also one that Thompson says he finds appealing.
"They're telling me that I fit well in the program and that I will shine in their system because of how I chase the ball and stuff like that," Thompson said. "I think they're right. It seems like a fit."
Thompson shies away from the concept of "dream schools" but says that the University of Georgia has a special draw. The Bulldogs coaching staff is yet to reach out, but Thompson is hoping that will change.
"I grew up rooting for none of the Florida schools," he said. "I grew up rooting for Georgia, so if there's a dream school, I guess that might be something sorta like that. Growing up, that was, like, one of the first sates I visited outside of Florida, and I loved it there."
As a junior, Thompson was part of a Central team that finished 14-1 and won a Florida state title.
