Arizona State lands high three-star DB Chris Johnson

Arizona State has made Texas a point of emphasis on the recruiting trail, and that success has continued with the Sun Devils' latest commitment. High three-star Aledo (Texas) defensive back Chris Johnson announced his pledge on Tuesday evening.

"(My) relationship with the coaches and their commitment to me through my whole recruitment," Johnson told Rivals.com about what resulted in the Sun Devils winning out for his pledge.

Johnson played a key role in Aledo winning the 5A DI state championship last fall. He features ideal size at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds with good length in the secondary. Additionally, he brings next-level bloodlines to the table as his father played collegiately at Louisville.

"Definitely my confidence and physicality," Johnson said of what the best part of his game is. "You can bet that I'm bringing my 100% every day and my physicality every day."

The newest Sun Devils pledge made 30 tackles, grabbed a pair of interceptions, and even forced two fumbles as a junior. An opportunity to play and contribute early was one of the compelling selling points that ultimately led to Arizona State winning out in a competitive

Johnson sees his experiences playing on the biggest of stages in Texas paying off when he kicks off his collegiate career. He's determined to make a big significant impact and win at Arizona State.

"I feel like my leadership will prevail in big-game situations," said Johnson.
