Arizona State lands four-star DB Jordan Clark

It came down to Arizona State, California, Louisville and Vanderbilt for Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab cornerback Jordan Clark.

He chose the Sun Devils and head coach Herman Edwards had a lot to do with it.

Since Edwards took over the football program late last year, the Sun Devils have been a true contender.

On Tuesday, the four-star added his name to the Arizona State commitment list.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

"I wanted to make sure I explored every avenue thoroughly so after taking the last of the visits, and making the pros and cons list with my parents, Arizona State felt right for me," said Clark.

"I called coach Edwards up on Monday night and he was super hype. The entire staff was telling me congrats and screaming forks up.

"Coach Herm was a big factor. I trust him and his entire staff. It is a group of guys that I trust yelling at me, trust teaching me and molding me into the man and player that I can be on and off the field.

"The academics there were important too. They have a great system set up there. To fail there, you have to not try. Academics is something I value a lot, so that is so important to me. They want their players to succeed on and off the field.

"I also feel I will have a chance to play early at Arizona State. They give their players that chance. I love how they do it. They want their guys to compete and they will play the best ones. I know I will go work hard, compete and try to earn early playing time.

"I love the city. I love the area. I know a lot of people around the area and I have family out there, so that made the decision easier too. I know there are people out there that care for me and that I won't be alone. A lot of things helped me pick Arizona State.

"When I got home from my visit early in the season is kind of when it hit me. I was sitting in my room still thinking about Arizona State and wanting to be back in Phenix. I just had that feeling. I knew I was comfortable and that is when it really started to hit me that I had found my school.

"Being committed is like having a big weight lifted off my shoulders. I have had to balance school with recruiting, so it feels good to be done with it. I am very confident in my decision and I am so happy with it."

RIVALS REACTION

Clark is one of the most advanced defensive backs in the 2019 class. He is smart, he plays with great technique and he picks up on things quickly. He is a defensive back who could move around the secondary. He has very good ball skills, great awareness and can play press or off coverage. He is a player who could be a real leader for the Sun Devil program. Nobody is going to out-work him, he is going to all he can to be successful and this could a gem for the ASU 2019 class.
