Arizona scores in California

Commitment No. 6 for the Arizona Wildcats in the recruiting class of 2002 comes from a mammoth offensive line prospect out of Castroville (Calif.) No. Monterey County High School.
“I just committed a few minutes ago,” Tanner Bell, a 6-foot-7, 291-pound offensive tackle said. “I’m excited right now. I just think Arizona is the place for me. I love Coach Mack, Coach Long, the offensive line coach. Arizona is just right for me.”

Bell also considered UNLV but no longer plans to take the previously scheduled visit to Las Vegas that was set for this weekend.
Washington State, Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State and Stanford had been recruiting Bell earlier in the year until Bell suffered a torn MCL.
“The Arizona coaches stuck with me through the whole year, through the injury they stayed with me. That’s another reason why I committed. They just showed me that they wanted me.”
Bell is an honors student, carrying a 3.95 GPA and scoring an 1,130 on the SAT. He made his official visit to Arizona this past weekend.
