Arizona QB lands offer No. 1

A quarterback that is beginning to emerge as one of the best in the West region is Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame signal caller Sean Renfree. Renfree recently picked up his first scholarship offer and said he has five schools at the top of his list right now.
Renfree, 6-3, 200 pounds has all the tools to excel at the next level. Physically, he throws a great deep ball and has an effortless release. He can throw with great touch or throw with plenty of heat when he needs to.

He's very solid mechanically, is accurate and moves around very well in the pocket. Athletically, Renfree tested about as good as any quarterback we saw during the NIKE combine tour running a 4.69-40, 4.41 shuttle, jumping 34 inches in the vertical with 20 reps on the bench and a very good 80.74 SPARQ Rating.
On the recruiting front, Renfree landed his first scholarship offer on Monday from Oregon State.
"I was very happy to get that offer at my first Spring practice," Renfree said. "Coach Riley came to watch practice and that's when I got the offer.
"Oregon State is a great football program. I had a chance to visit there a few weeks ago and was extremely impressed with the coaching staff and the other players on the team. I was able to sit in on the quarterbacks meeting with Coach Langsdorf (offensive coordinator) and meet the other quarterbacks on the team.
"It was a great learning environment and all of the quarterbacks really interacted well with each other. I felt very comfortable there. The team atmosphere and intensity at the scrimmage were phenomenal. The campus was really nice too, it was just a great visit."
Although the Beavers were the first to offer, there are several other schools showing a lot of interest in Renfree as well.
"Boise State was also out at my first spring practice on Monday, and Coach Harbaugh from Stanford was out today (Tuesday) to watch. Coach Harbaugh is a nice guy and seems like a great coach also.
"Coaches from Cal, Washington State and Georgia Tech were at my school last week. I'm also hearing a lot from Northwestern, Washington, Duke, Boston College, Purdue and Arizona State.
"I also recently visited the University of Arizona, which was nice. My coach also told me that Toledo, Wyoming and Colorado State have called him a lot and are pretty interested so things are going well for me right now."
As for a time line to his decision, Renfree said he would like to make it before school start in the fall.
"I will definitely commit early- probably no later than the end of June," Renfree said. "I want to devote my energy in the fall to helping my team win a state championship this year and don't want the distraction of recruiting hanging over my head.
"Right now, my top five schools are Oregon State, Stanford, Cal, Arizona State and Georgia Tech. I'm looking for a solid football program that has a good tradition, good coaches and likes to throw the ball.
"Academics are also an important consideration, as well as the overall atmosphere of the campus and student body. I'm done with unofficial visits but I will be going to Stanford's Junior Day May 20 and will camp with Oregon State June 8. I'm sure I will attend some other camps but it will depend on how much interest I receive from them in the coming weeks."
As a junior, Renfree threw for 2,483 yards and 24 touchdowns. He's carrying a 3.9 GPA and will attend the NorCal NIKE Camp later this month.
