Arizona home to elite center prospect

One of the top true center prospects we've seen out West this year is Phoenix (Ariz.) Shadow Mountain's Doug Zismann. The talented lineman has a chance to be an elite prospect and schools from all over the country looking at him.
Zismann, 6-3, 265 pounds is a very talented player and one of the elite centers in the West. After earning HM All-state honors as a sophomore, he earned 1st team honors last year.

Zismann shows up very well on film and reminds us of Cal signee Dominic Galas. The lineman is very quick and has excellent later ability. He's strong at the point of attack and can stone would be pass rushers at the line of scrimmage. He does a great job getting in to the secondary and making a block on a linebacker or safety and is a very physical player.
Like Galas, Zismann is also a talented wrester and finished second in the state heavyweight division the last two years. Next year will be Zismann's fourth year playing on the varsity at Shadow Mountain and he projects at the high Div I level.
On the recruiting front, Zismann is hearing from most of the Pac 10 plus Northwestern, Penn State, Colorado, Boise State, Duke, LSU, UConn, Purdue, Utah, Army, Navy and Air Force.
"My top five right now is Northwestern, Penn State, Colorado, Stanford and Arizona State," Zismann said. "No one has offered yet but hopefully that will happen.
"Right now, I'm just training hard, lifting a lot and doing agility and core training as well. As for what I want in a school, I'm looking for a program with a strong combination of athletics and academics. I want to major in Business or Sports Medicine so that will play a role for me."
Zismann is carrying a 3.2 GPA and he scored a 1560 on the SAT. He'll attend the NIKE Camp at USC in April.
