Arizona duo picking up steam

There is QB/WR combination from Apache Junction, Ariz., who are considered sleepers. Apache Jct., head coach Steve Neal feels his dynamic duo will soon wake up Pac10, Mountain West and WAC schools.
The quarterback is Pat McNamara (6-0, 183, 4.55). He was selected all-region honorable mention. Not bad when you consider he played in the same region with two of the Grand Canyon State’s best senior quarterbacks. The 1st-team all-region quarterback is ASU bound Kellen Bradley.

McNamara is a raw player, but has skills. His junior season was his first year as a starting QB. He passed for 1,888 yards and threw for nine touchdowns while hitting 59% of his passes.
Proving he can make plays with his feet as well as his arm, McNamara rushed for 343 yards.
McNamara is a hard worker who has improved in every facet of his game. “The difference between this year and last is like night and day,” Neal said. “I think Pat’s best days are ahead of him.”
Every good quarterback needs a go-to-guy. You know the guy you can count on when the chips are down to come up with the big play. McNamara has one in D.J. Boe (6-0, 190).
Boe runs a legit 4.6 40-yard dash, benches 240 pounds, squats 345, cleans 260 and has recorded a 27-inch vertical jump.
Apache Jct., runs a spread offense so Boe lines up at both wide receiver and running back. Boe has proved to have a nose for the end zone when he lines up at running back. He rushed for 175 yards and scored a very productive six touchdowns.
When Boe lined up at wide receiver he was just as potent. He piled up 49 receptions for 533 yards and scored four more touchdowns in a total of nine games.
Boe was selected all-region for his efforts as a junior.
The scouting report in Boe is that he’s great in space. He has good breakaway speed and a great set of hands.
“D.J. catches anything near him,” Neal said. “Wherever the ball is thrown, D.J. will go get it.”
Both McNamara and Boe are considered sleepers everywhere outside of Arizona. The three in-state schools Arizona, ASU and Northern Arizona are recruiting the duo from Apache Jct., coach Steve Neal thinks there will be a lot more before the season is done…
