Arizona DE lands first offer

This class of 2005 in Arizona is looking like one of the strongest the state has had in recent years. Another player to watch who has an early scholarship offer is Tucson (Ariz.) Sabino defensive lineman Cody Jones.
Jones, 6-5, 230 pounds saw action at both defensive end and quarterback last season but will play on the defensive side of the ball in college. In what amounted to about half a season, Jones totaled 44 tackles and 10 quarterback sacks to earn all-league and second team all-region honors.

Jones is a good looking athlete with a nice frame and will easily be able to add weight in college. He runs in the 4.7 range in the 40, benches closes to 300 pounds and has a nice combination of strength and athleticism.
On the recruiting front, Jones is hearing from Arizona, Arizona State, Texas, Duke, LSU, Florida, Purdue, Colorado, Stanford, Oregon and Washington. Duke has offered a scholarship.
"Arizona is my top school followed by Arizona State, Texas, Duke and LSU," Jones said. "I'm looking for a school that is strong academically with a coaching staff I like and will be comfortable with. I'm planning to go to the Nike Camp at San Diego and will also attend team camps at Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Purdue."
Academically, Jones is carrying a 3.25 GPA and would like to major in Business in college.
