Arizona commit hearing Rich Rod rumors

With rumors about Rich Rodriguez and his future at Arizona swirling, longtime commit Khalil Tate is prepared to take a wait-and-see approach.

It stems from past experience, really. The four-star athlete from Gardena (Calif.) Serra said he heard all of those same rumors last year but the staff stayed intact and his strong relationship with the coaches was a major reason why he chose the Wildcats.
There are a few other programs that have reached out recently, including nearby USC, but Tate said he plans to remain patient and let the process unfold.

IN HIS WORDS: "People have been saying that coach (Rodriguez) was leaving -- they said the same thing last year," Tate told Rivals.com. "He was supposed to go to Louisville to link up with the athletic director there and he didn't. Now the rumor is that he'll leave to Virginia Tech and that he would take his whole coaching staff.
"When he left West Virginia he took his whole staff, so if he leaves Arizona he'll probably do the same thing. SC and Texas A&M have been recruiting me still. SC has said quarterback, but I know ... They said the same thing with my friend Jalen (Greene), so I don't know."
WHAT'S NEXT?: Tate has put together one of the better seasons in the state this year, passing for 1,893 yards and 16 touchdowns, and rushing for 1,774 yards and 24 more scores in 10 appearances. From a recruiting standpoint, the dual-threat prospect said all he can do is wait for the situation with Rodriguez to be resolved one way or the other. Serra continues its postseason run Friday night in a CIF Southern Section Pac-5 Division matchup with Mater Dei, with the winner advancing to the semifinals.
