Appice remains patient

Defensive end John Appice out of Manalapan, N.J. is still waiting for his first offer. After coming off a big junior season, Appice is just starting to eye camps.
"Nobody has offered yet," he said. "I'm just trying to get to a couple of camps. I haven't attended any camps, but a lot of schools say they are interested in me.

"I have been invited to multiple visits. I can say I am heading to a couple camps at the end of July."
Appice plans to head to visits at Delaware, Towson, Temple, Old Dominion and Monmouth.
In addition, the 6-foot-3, 270-pounder claims Boston College, Rutgers, Connecticut, Syracuse and Buffalo are interested.
"A bunch of them want to see me in the fall."
So, as Appice is looking around more, what does he want in a school?
"To be honest, I'm not looking to go to the NFL," he said. "I want to get my history degree or maybe a law degree. I want to go far enough away, but close enough to drive home."
Appice posted over 70 tackles and 12 sacks as a junior while earning all-Shore, county, district and metro.
Obviously coming off a big year, Appice discussed what sticks out about his game.
"I think it's definitely my run stopping," he said. "If the ball carrier runs my way, he's not going to go anywhere."
Appice is ranked in the top 50 as a wrestler nationally and No. 1 as a heavyweight in the state of New Jersey heading into his senior year. Despite the accolades, Appice isn't looking to pursue wrestling in college.
