Apopka's Alan Abrams (6-0, 185, 4.45 forty, 260 bench) has been offered
scholarships by LSU, Purdue and Indiana, and is hearing from several other top
D-I programs.
"I've heard from most of the SEC, all the Florida schools," Abrams said.
"Miami and Florida have both been in contact. I really like them."
Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee have also shown a lot of interest in Abrams,
who rushed for more than 900 yards and averaged 12 yards per carry as a junior.
His breakout game couldn't have come at a better time, recording 166 yards and a
touchdown on just 12 carries in the 6A title game win over Miami Northwestern.
Abrams said he doesn't compare himself to other backs, but always looked up
to former Chicago Bear and NFL Hall of Famer, the late Walter Payton. "I always
liked the way he ran. He was a strong runner with a big heart. He always kept
his feet moving. That's what I try to do."
He says his college decision will come down to both football and academics.
"I want to go somewhere that's a good conference, where they run the ball a
lot and they graduate their football players. My education is real important to
me," said Abrams, who carries a 3.1 GPA, has scored an 860 on the SAT and plans
to pursue the business field in college.
