Anthony Wheat play is huge

One of the best athlete prospects in Southern California this season is Anthony Wheat (6-1, 200, 4.6) from Compton (Calif.) Dominguez Hills. A two-way performer, Wheat is having an outstanding senior season on both sides of the ball.
Wheat has played several positions over the years for Dominguez this season the quarterback on offense and is the catalyst for Dominguez offensive attack.

Under Wheat’s guidance as a signal caller he has led Dominguez to a 4-2 record so far in 2002.
From his quarterback position, Wheat is 23-45 for 309 yards and three touchdowns by the air. On the ground, Wheat has 35 carries for 250 yards and three more touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball he has been awesome from his safety position, proving that he can be a difference maker on defensive side of the ball too.
Wheat has somewhere between 25 and 30 tackles, an outstanding seven picks and one forced fumble.
Wheat has offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Arizona and San Diego State.
These four schools plus Washington, Oregon, USC and Hawaii are up for visits.
The Trojans have a pending offer according to Wheat.
Wheat hasn’t set up any visits yet and will decide what schools to visit at the end of the season.
What does Wheat want in a college?
“I want to go to a school where I will have a shot to play as a freshman,” Wheat said. “I also want to receive a good education.”
Wheat is mostly being recruited for his talents as a free safety, but some schools think he could be a pretty good wide receiver.
The scouting report on Wheat is as a receiver they love his size, body control and the way he catches the ball.
On defense, Wheat is very aggressive, a good tackler and solid in coverage.
