Another Upland star

Need any further proof that Upland should be one of the top teams in the Inland Empire this fall?
Everybody already knows about star quarterback Josh Nunes and a few other high-profile prospects. But there's another high-level recruit in the making.

His name is Davion Fleming, and he's quickly emerging as one of the top safeties in California.
Fleming already has a scholarship offer from Northwestern assistant Jerry Brown and is getting heavy interest from Cal, Oregon, Stanford and even UCLA. Fleming just got back from the Stanford camp, and it looks like he impressed up there.
"He just got back from Stanford, and word is that he had a great camp," Upland assistant Mike Esquivel said. "He's a very talented player that has some great size, great explosiveness and great bloodlines, too. His brother also coaches at Upland and was part of the 2000 CIF championship team.
"We've got really big expectations for Davion this fall. We think he's going to be a real steal for somebody."
At this point two teams seem to stand out on the recruiting front.
"Stanford and Northwestern are his early favorites so far," Esquivel said. "We just know whoever gets him is going to land themselves one very talented football player, a great kid from a great family."
