Another Top Maryland LB

Junior to Watch: Wesley Jefferson
School: Clinton (Md.) Gwynn Park
Position: Linebacker
Size and speed: Jefferson is 6-foot-2 and weighs 231 pounds. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds.
Statistics: As a junior, Jefferson made 165 tackles and registered 13 sacks.
Honors: All-conference, all-area.
Favorite Schools: Penn State, Maryland, Ohio State, Syracuse, Florida State.
Skinny: Jefferson is one of the top players in Maryland this year and already has offers from Penn State, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio State, Temple, Syracuse and Michigan State. He has the size to play inside linebacker and rushes the passer well from the outside.
“I don’t just tackle players, I blow them up,” he said. “That’s not my goal, that’s what I do.”
Jefferson was a standout at the recent NIKE Camp at Penn State and has always loved the Nittany Lions.
“I’m staying open because I want to see a lot of different schools, but Penn State and Texas have always been my favorites,” he said. “Texas isn’t recruiting me, but Penn State is coming on hard. They’ve been at my school already and so has Tennessee. I’m not sure when the rest are coming.”
Jefferson wants to take all of his official visits before deciding and isn’t sure where he’ll camp this summer.
“I’m not going to make a decision until after my senior season is over.”
