The Tigers of the Southeastern Conference have caught his eye early.
"All I know is that they have got good running backs at Auburn," Barnes said. "They also have good tradition. I am going down there for their spring game and am looking forward to checking it out and seeing what it is like.
"I love the tradition. It excites me the way I have seen them play on television. They said they loved my athleticism."
Barnes also commented on N.C. State.
"I've made a couple of (unofficial) visit to N.C. State," he said. "What I love the most about N.C. State is the strength and conditioning program. It's top of the line."
Clemson, Florida and Notre Dame also are programs that could end up in the mix for Barnes.
Barnes, who projects as a running back, wide receiver or safety at the next level, rushed 69 times for 518 yards and five touchdowns and caught 10 passes for 259 yards and four touchdowns. Barnes also had 77 tackles and five interceptions defensively.
