Another offer comes for Russell

When Lincoln (Neb.) North Star wide receiver Derrick Russell suffered an ACL injury a couple of games back, things were definitely not going as planned for the three-star rated senior. However, adding a third offer to his pile definitely helped things.
Rated as the No. 4 player in the state of Nebraska, Russell has been impressing college coaches since the NIKE Training Camp in Manhattan, Kan., but still only had minimal interest for several months. That interest has turned into three offers from around the region.

"Iowa State just offered last week," Russell said about his latest scholarship that brings him to three. "That's real high on my list. My dad really likes the school there and its close. Plus, they're basketball coach has talked with my coach, so I feel like I could play both there."
He now has a pretty solid top three.
"Purdue hasn't offered, but they're in there along with Iowa State and Kansas State," Russell said. "Purdue seems like they may be getting close to something."
One thing that has shocked him is lack of interest in terms of an offer from Nebraska.
"I'm really going on the schools that are looking hard at me," he said. "Plus, I'm trying to cut down to the schools that actually offered me. I want to follow them and try to make my decision not too far from now."
Russell has not set up any official visits at this time.
