Another NoCal QB to watch

Northern California has an abundance of quarterbacks this season. There is another one for us to keep tabs on. What do you think about all these signal callers in NoCal? Is it the water?
Shane Steichen (6-3, 175, 4.77) from Cameron Park (Calif.) Oak Ridge is another NoCal quarterback who is working hard to secure a D-I scholie in February of 2003.

Steichen has an impressive resume. He was selected Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was an All-City (Sacramento) selection as a junior. Steichen passed for 1,685 yards and 15 touchdowns for his junior season.
Steichen is a typical pro-style quarterback who is excellent at the five-step drop back, three-step and is also adept to running out of the shotgun. He is able to read a defense and get the ball to the right receiver.
Steichen’s Brother Sean was a quarterback at Boise State and before he switched to punter.
Steichen has attended Nikes Camps held at Stanford and Eugene. Then he attended the one day camp at Oregon the day after Nike. Steichen also camped at BYU and was very impressive while camping at UNLV. Now the Runnin’ Rebels are recruiting Steichen pretty hard.
UNLV isn’t the only school looking at this talented signal caller. ASU, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, SDSU, Boise State and Portland State are also showing interest.
The ever busy Steichen has taken unofficial visits to Boise State and Oregon State.
Steichen is looking for a school that plays at a high level of competition, nice surroundings and good coaches.
“I want to find a college where I would want to live for the next four years,” Steichen said. “I very open regarding school choice; I wouldn’t mind playing for an established winning program or help build a program that is on the rise.”
