Position: Defensive Tackle/Offensive Guard
Size and Speed: Malele stands 6-foot-4, weighs 293 pounds and was timed at the Nike combine held at USC in the 40 in 4.96. His bench is 335 and his squat is 525. Malele also benched 185 pounds 28 times at the Nike combine held at USC.
Honors: Malele was selected all-league and all-city as a junior. He was also named to the Long Beach Telegram’s Best of the West team as an honorable mention selection. Malele was also selected all-state as an underclassman.
Statistics: Malele racked up 77 tackles, ten tackles for loss and recorded seven sacks.
Favorite Colleges: Malele is hearing from everybody. UCLA, Cal, Tennessee and Oregon lead the field. He was spotted at UCLA this past Friday. Malele has a cousin who will be an incoming frosh for Cal this fall. The word is UCLA and Cal has the lead for this already qualified athlete.
Skinny: Malele certainly has the bloodlines his cousin is incoming Cal freshman Matt Malele. Like his cousin before him, Malele is considered one of the state of California’s best defensive linemen.
“Norris dominated big time recruit Chilo Rachal (6-6, 310, 4.9) from Compton (Calif.) Dominguez at the Nike combine held at USC,” former Carson assistant coach and now assistant coach at Compton College Dennis Collins said. “He has that mean, nasty temperament that is needed in a defensive lineman to be successful.”
“Norris is very coachble,” Collins said. “He’s a hard worker who is determined to be the best at his position.”
Malele is another prospect who has unlimited potential. “Norris hasn’t even come close to reaching his potential,” Collins said. “He has a super high ceiling and his best days as a football player are ahead of him.”
