Another Kilgore player commits
Kilgore, Texas, just isn't home to Eddie Jones, the talented national prospect that committed to Texas this past weekend. It's also home to a crew of very solid prospects, including one that has also cast his lot with an up-and-coming in-state program.
Offensive guard Lon Roberts, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound prospect, has committed to Houston, according to Kilgore coach Mike Vallery.

"That's a real good pickup for Houston," Vallery said. "Lon is a very talented kid. He works extremely hard, and he's got great size and is only going to develop into an even better prospect over the next couple of years."
Roberts, an all-area pick as a junior, was also recruited by Arkasnas, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M. However, Houston was his lone early scholarship offer, and it ended up being an offer he could not refuse.
"He just felt right about it," Vallery said. "Houston is getting itself a very good player."
