Chans Cox made a return trip to Arizona State for its junior day on Saturday and one of the highlights was getting a chance to talk more with first year-coach Todd Graham.
"It was definitely good to get down there," Cox said. "It was convenient because my sister had a track meet in Payson and that's only an hour away from the valley so my dad and I went down there really quick.
"We talked to coach Graham again and it was great. The other thing that was awesome is I really wanted to get out to the honors college and I got a little tour of that and it was great."
Arizona State is being seriously considered by the four-star linebacker from Lakeside (Ariz.) Blue Ridge but a decision is not expected soon.
Cox, the top-rated player in Arizona by Rivals.com, said he thinks it's great Arizona State is going after top in-state players but he's not ready to commit to any school until he takes more visits.
"Coach Graham really wants me to commit," Cox said. "He really wants the top in-state guys and I think that's awesome but I'm still seeing how everything goes and I want to keep in touch with them but I want to still get out and see more schools.
"He puts emphasis on the in-state guys and ASU wants those guys. It's something they take pride in and it was another great day down there. I was talking to coach Graham a lot of the time."
Rated as the No. 40 prospect in the 2013 rankings by Rivals.com, Cox has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Boise State, Colorado, Duke, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Tulsa, Utah and Washington.
Because of a shoulder issue, Cox said he doesn't plan to attend the upcoming Los Angeles NIKE Camp and he isn't sure of his off-season schedule. Recruiting is going so well, Cox said he doesn't want to rush getting back on the field.
