Another famous McGriff

Tallahassee, Fla., year in and year out is home to some of the top players in the Southeast. It always seems that North Florida Christian or Lincoln have studs right and left. But there are other schools in the area that have players. One such stud is Florida High linebacker Tyrone McGriff.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound McGriff has been timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.59 seconds and earned all-state, all-district and all-Big Bend honors as a junior.

And it’s his hard-hitting and nose for the football that has coaches from all over taking a long look at him this May.
“I’m rough and hard hitting,” McGriff, who had 56 solo tackles, 34 assists and nine sacks as a junior, said. “I also have a good knowledge of the game and that helps me read plays on defense.”
Topping McGriff’s early list is LSU, Florida, Michigan and Georgia Tech. he said Michigan, South Carolina, N.C. State and Arkansas are also calling and writing him regularly.
“I don’t have any scholarships yet,” he said. “But that’s going to change soon, I hope.”
McGriff said he’s got his eyes on a few things that will be important in his final decision.
“I want a school that has my major,” he said. “I also want a place with good facilities and a good coaching staff.”
McGriff also has some interesting family ties. He said he is related to Fred McGriff and also Charlie Ward – which might of interest to Florida State fans.
